Fat transfer, or natural fat grafting, can restore natural-looking volume to the face and body using your own fat cells. Your Fat Grafting Procedure

Your fat grafting procedure may be performed either at an outpatient surgical facility or a local hospital, depending on your specific treatment. Your plastic surgeon will first take fat cells from a donor location with an ample amount of fat. Some possible donor locations include your abdomen, buttocks, or thighs. Using specialized liposuction techniques, fat cells are carefully extracted from these areas and preserved for the next part of your fat grafting procedure. Once fat cells are harvested, they are carefully reinjected into areas of the face or body that are lacking in definition. Nasolabial folds and facial wrinkles can be smoothed, while hollows and under-eye bags can be reduced using facial fat transfer. The breasts, buttocks, and hands can be volumized using fat grafting for the body.

Natural fat transfer can complement other facial rejuvenation and body contouring procedures, including facelift surgery, chin augmentation, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, and buttock augmentation, among others.

What To Expect After Undergoing Your Fat Transfer Procedure

Fat transfer patients can expect mild bruising or swelling around the treatment area(s) and donor site(s) upon the completion of their procedure. These effects may last for 1-2 weeks, on average.
