Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite treatment can achieve smooth skin and reduce unsightly dimpling around the lower body. Cellulite is a cosmetic issue for many women as they age. While cellulite is more common in females, males too can struggle with this condition. The skin progressively changes over time, leading to the formation of small subsurface fat pockets that cause the bumps and dimples we refer to as cellulite. Cellulite treatment is designed to address the underlying causes of cellulite formation. Different techniques can be used to achieve dramatic cellulite reduction results, including laser treatments, liposuction, and fat grafting. Your plastic surgeon can use laser technology to release connective tissues that contribute to fat deposits while also encouraging skin tightening. Liposuction can complement laser cellulite reduction by removing unwanted fat for a smoother-looking appearance. Fat transfer can also reduce dimpling by adding natural-looking volume to the body using your natural fat cells. The result is a smoother and youthful-looking appearance across the target area. Cellulite treatment can improve the skin texture of your lower body in the long-term.

Your Cellulite Procedure

Your cellulite treatment can be performed in-office, at an outpatient surgical facility, or at a local hospital, depending on your specific treatment plan. During your laser cellulite procedure, small incisions will be made around the treatment site. A tiny laser is then inserted under the skin to release fibrous, connective tissues that are responsible for herniated fat pockets and dimpling. Laser energy also stimulates collagen in the area, which can lead to skin tightening benefits over time.

Liposuction and fat grafting can be combined with laser cellulite reduction to enhance skin texture around the body. During liposuction, small pockets of unwanted fat are removed using a small cannula to achieve smoother-looking contours. Fat grafting can add volume to the treatment area and improve dimpling using your body’s natural fat cells. First, excess fat cells are extracted from a donor area (oftentimes the midsection or buttocks). These fat cells are then injected into the treatment area to reduce any dimpling or asymmetries.

What To Expect After Undergoing Your Cellulite Treatment

Bruising and swelling are usually mild after your cellulite treatment and may last for about 1 week. Cellulite reduction patients can return to work within a few days of their procedure. Strenuous activities should be avoided for 1-2 weeks to allow for optimal healing. Specific guidelines and timeframes can be discussed in more detail during your initial cellulite consultation.

Cellulite treatment using laser technology, liposuction, and fat grafting can produce long-term results. Patients can expect to see continuing improvements in the months following their cellulite procedure.
